Our Opening Day on 3rd September was a great success with a good turnout from existing members and a number of prospective new members attending. On 11th September we held a casual bowls afternoon and the Tuesday afternoon programme started with a Club Day on 20th September and the first round of the Club Aggregate Cup on 27th September. Our men bowlers had their first competitive outing on 24th October in the Gough Shield and Hutt Valley Banner competitions. We were runners up in the Gough Shield, narrowly missing the top spot on count back and finished mid table in the Hutt Valley Banner. We hosted Plimmerton on 25th September for our annual challenge for the Charlie Don Shield, which was rearranged from the previous weekend. An 8-4 win saw us regain the Shield! The regular weekly Skills Training evenings started on 27th September. On 1st October our men bowlers hosted Hutt for our annual challenge. We couldn't repeat our success over Plimmerton with a 5-13 loss ensuring that the Shield eluded our grasp. Throughout the month our popular Games Afternoons continued on Thursdays at 1pm and our legendary Social Evenings continued on Fridays from 4pm.
Entry is limited to the first 16 teams and there are only a few places left! To enter, email [email protected] or phone 528 2697.
In February we published an on line survey. We received some interesting information but analysis of the results was inconclusive, mainly due to the disappointing response. At our recent AGM interest was expressed in seeing the results and you can do so by clicking here. Please direct any comments to [email protected].
A message from our Secretary...

We recently reported in Latest News (on 21st March) the success of member Claire Bradburn at the Oceania Championships in Vanuatu. We now have some photos from the event which was held in less than ideal conditions! The slide show below shows (1) the winning New Zealand team (Claire is on the left), (2) the start of play on the second day, (3) the results of a tropical thunderstorm which halted the evening session and (4) efforts to drain the arena before the evening session was called off. As we approach closing day bowls activities wind down but there are a couple more results to report. During the following week our women played Upper Hutt for the Jack Allen Trophy and retained it. Well done again!
